The St. Johnsbury Swim Club is a registered USA Swimming Club and is incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. The 2010-2011 Season will be the fifth year of operation for the club, but our first as a full member of USA Swimming. Our head coach is Andy Barter. Andy is a High School Science and Mathematics Teacher at the Caledonia School in St. Johnsbury, and has been swimming competitively since he was 8 years of age. He is an ASCA and USA Swimming Certified Coach, and has been Red Cross Sports-Safety Trained, including Lifeguarding, CPR and First Aid. Andy continues to swim competitively, with his most recent competition as the 10-mile Kingdom Swim. He managed Lifeguarding and Aquatic Staff at the University of Vermont, and also coached an 80-member Swim Team in Amherst, NH, for four years.
In addition to his love of swimming, Andy also demonstrates a commitment to community service. He has served as the President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Northeast Kingdom Chamber of Commerce, the Zoning & Planning Board Secretary for the town of Danville, and is currently serving as the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors for Northeast Kingdom Human Services.
